Through the Eastern Gate was my first full-length film, and in some ways autobiographical. I started as a Buddhist when I was a teenager, then I took up yoga in my early 20’s and I became Muslim during the filming of the movie. What I noticed is that while the vocabulary and some important philosophical points may differ from one path to another, the description of the results, of what is possible for the human being is often very similar. My goal with this film is to show how spirituality is alive today and that the paths lead to the same blossoming of the human spirit.
